Gay March on Washington
The Executive Committe of the NGTF (National Gay Task Force) Board of Directors voted unanimously at its August 18 meeting to lend official NGTF endorsement to the October 14 National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights. NGTF is encouraging all members and friends to join the national lesbian and gay community in Washington DC on October 14 to call for an end to all social, economic, judicial and legal discrimination against gay people.
In connection with the March, NGTF will launch a national "Petition the President" campaign by circulating a petition requesting the President's vigorous and public support for gay rights. The petition specifically asks President Carter to act on his campaign promise of May 21, 1976, by (1) issuing an Executive Order barring discrimination against lesbians and gay men; and (2) endorsing the bill before Congress (HR 2074) to extend the 1964 and 1968 Civil Rights Acts to include protection on the basis of sexual orientation. Contact people are urgently needed to coordinate circulation of petitions in their local areas. Those interested and willing are asked to contact NGTF immediately at 80 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10011; (212) 741-5800.

SISTERS' SPACE
Is there an alternative to the lesbian bar scene in the Harrisburg area? There is a group of women who
think so!
On Thursday, September 6th, more than twenty gay women met for a rap session to share ideas and experiences and to discuss alternate ways of meeting and communicating other than frequenting gay bars. The women at the meeting were of varying ages, lifestyles and interests. Although the number pres-
ent was impressive, hopefully the next meeting will draw an even larger attendance. The spontaneous sharing of thoughts and expectations along with the realization that lesbians are not alone even in central Pennsylvania served to make this first rap session a resounding success.
--
A few of the constructive ideas that evolved included proposals for a lesbian coffee house, gay women's volleyball and/or soccer teams, ongoing rap sessions and chess and backgammon tournaments. There were also announcements of other social activities already in existence at the homes of gay women in attendance. Future meetings will be held the second Thursday of each month for the next six months. The next meeting is on Thursday, October 11, at the Friends (Quaker) Meeting House, 6th and Herr Streets, Harrisburg. To obtain directions write: Rap Session, P.0. Box 297, Harrisburg, PA 17108; or call the Gay Hotline in Harrisburg at: 717-234-0328.
